Christmas 2004

The jeep stares at yet another bleak Christmas at the hands of the perpetrators, my two children. Their “its all about me” attitude believing that going to college is more important than “critical” upgrades (Example: a new rear disk brake conversion) for the jeep has brought the CJ to its knees. My lovely wife is a willing accomplice in this attack on the defenseless Jeep not only by agreeing with the children regarding their education, but by spending enormous amounts of money which could be used to support the Jeep , is used on clothing, “Herman” scarfs, etc.  with excuses like “I can’t run around in rags” or "those are winter shoes, I can't wear them in the summer." But when I try to use the same rationale “I can’t use these tires in winter, they are for summer”, I get a look that warns a month of cold showers is fast approaching and I realize there will be no new tires.

So here we are. I'm broke, and my jeep passes into its "sunset" years due to abuse and neglect.

So unless I can convince my kids on the merits of "Joe's Welding School & Notary Public" or some other career opportunities (ya know, McDonalds offers benefits to long term employees), the Jeep's only hope is for kind, understanding people to open their hearts (and their wallets) and support this American Classic!
